Over the years I have collaborated with a number of
excellent students on a variety of research topics. My currently
students and I are conducting research related to sexual satisfaction,
parent-adolescent sexual communication, sexual initiations, child
sexual abuse, STI-related
stigma, attitudes toward sexuality and older adults, and on-line sexual activity. The results of
several of our studies have been featured in Canadian and American news
stories. Moreover, my students often present our findings at psychology
and sexuality conferences. Several of my students have won awards for
the quality of their research and presentations.
In addition to working on research, my doctoral students have the opportunity
to learn skills related to teaching human sexuality. For their
teaching apprenticeship, several students have chosen to teach the undergraduate
course in human sexuality under my supervision. Quite a number of students
have had the opportunity to facilitate the tutorials associated with
the Human Sexuality course that I teach. In the tutorials, undergraduate
students discuss issues and participate in small group activities related
to human sexuality topics. Finally, most of my clinical doctoral students
have taken the clinical seminar I offer on the assessment and treatment
of sexual problems, providing them with the foundation to gain experience
in sex therapy and treatment of sexual problems by working with me in my private practice.
